BALDWIN, Saludie Jones

Note: I've been typing obituaries for almost 50 years and I do believe this is one of the top 5 I've ever typed. Such a nutty reason to murder your wife and in front of her mother and son - oh my gosh . Crazy!

George Slavens went to Clinton Falls, Monday afternoon to attend the funeral of Mrs. Elijah Baldwin. The funeral was held in the M.P. Church, which was crowded, owing to the tragic death of Mrs. Baldwin. The Baldwins had been living for three years on the old Slaven home place. Elijah Baldwin, of Clinton Falls, cut his wife's throat on Sunday and then made an attempt to cut his own throat and failed - which was a pity. On Wednesday, he pled guilty to murder in the second degree and was sent to the pen for life!
